Celina Home Now a Crime Scene?

Other than the "family is grieving" statement from the step father, we have had no quotes from the mother nor the step-father, who was brought, via ambulance, to the hospital this morning, as searchers discovered a body near the home.  The step father's statement may indicate knowledge or belief that the child is deceased.  We will continue to update.

A body has been found by a dam on the Connecticut River by teams searching for a missing 11-year-old girl.

Crews searched an area near the Canaan Hydro-Dam as investigators continued to look for clues in the disappearance of 11-year-old Celina Cass, who was last seen in her West Stewartstown, N.H., home on July 25.

Essex County state attorney Vincent Illuzzi said a female body was found near the dam, but no identification had been made.

At about 10:45 a.m. Monday, a dive team came up from the water, and shortly after, other investigators and Assistant Attorney General Jane Young went to the scene. The media were asked to leave the area and go to the command center in West Stewartstown.

Roads on the Canaan side of the river have been closed off, blocking the view of the river.

Police returned to the home in the afternoon and put up crime tape. The family did not appear to be there.

Police said Celina is 5 feet 5 inches tall and 95 pounds, with brown, shoulder-length hair and hazel eyes. She was last wearing a pink shirt, pink pullover, blue shorts and shoes.
