Baez Defense: 4 Hours of Bluffing

Jose Baez has run the clock down in an attempt to confuse the jury.

Jeff Ashton kept it together for a long time, but must be held responsible for the folly of smirking at Baez.  No matter what, he knew that Baez had 4 hours to blabber on and on, no matter how self centered, ridiculous or aggravating.   As a professional, he knew the judge's order.  The state is responsible for not objecting more than it did; 10 times prior to the side bar.  Although this may be rare, the State allowed Baez to go off on topics not found in evidence yet did not object.  They should have.

Instead, they allowed Baez to bait Ashton with his various contradictory theories:

He disputed the science that showed that Caylee was in the car, yet affirmed that she was.

He ridiculed police for not investigating Goerge only to blame Kronk rather than George.

Baez was permitted to make a spectacle of himself should he so choose, and Ashton knew this before time.  Ashton had to know that Baez would ridicule him and ridicule the science.  His responsibility was to sit still and let Baez go.

He laughed and covered his face.

Judge Perry should have sustained the objection and dealt with it later instead of playing into Baez' game plan from the VERY FIRST HEARING:

Delay, delay, delay.

It is all that he has ever done.

It was something new to Judge Strictland, who, at first at least, let things go.  But by the time Belvin Perry came on, he was done with the delay tactics, yet Baez pushed it over and over.

He did it at each hearing and he did it at the closing argument.

4 hours of bluffing.

Ashton should have let it go, personally, but should have objected each time he could have.

Judge Perry could have reigned in this nonsense as well.

Justice is coming; it is just delayed.
