Texas: Child Pornography on Former Politician's Computer

A search warrant recently unsealed by the US District Court reveals possible criminal activity occurring on a laptop computer owned by former Lubbock City Councilman John Leonard.

According the the FBI search warrant, originally filed in June of 2008, a laptop computer was taken from Leonard's office in February of that year for an unrelated investigation.

That federal investigation regarded possible corruption and fraud between city officials and the city's health insurance administrator.

A forensic examination conducted on the laptop uncovered three images of child pornography, according to the FBI affidavit. More specifically, the document describes sexually explicit images of children between the ages of four and six.

Finally, the document reads, "Due to the limited scope of the search of the computer, additional forensic examination relating to the child pornography was terminated."

Agent Michael Orndorff, the FBI investigator who signed the warrant, concludes by saying there is probable cause to believe that a further search of the laptop would produce evidence or property which could lead to a criminal offense.

FOX 34 is not aware of any subsequent search warrants related to this investigation. No charges have been filed against Leonard.

Phone calls placed by FOX 34 to Leonard and Orndorff have not yet been returned.

Leonard did not seek reelection to the district 5 council seat in May of last year, and lost in the 2010 Republican primary for county commissionerSource URL: https://wallpaper-com.blogspot.com/2011/06/texas-child-pornography-on-former.html
